The Dark Hedges Film Festival returns to Belfast for a fourth year with its biggest-ever lineup with six days of screenings both physically and digitally from the 26th to 31st October.
The 2024 programme includes seven screenings including The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Elivra: Mistress of the Dark and Dawn of the Dead at four different venues across the city

Everything kicks off on Saturday 26th October (7pm) with a special screening of Hocus Pocus at Show Some Love Belfast followed by a Witches Disco. On Sunday 27th October there’ll be a screening of George A Romero’s cult classic Dawn of the Dead (2pm) at the Strand Art Centre’s temporary home at the Connswater Shopping Centre. Sunday will also include a screening of Joe Dante’s The Burbs in partnership with the Accidental Theatre’s Never Seen it Film Club.
Monday 28th October sees the return of the festival’s annual Short Film competition (7pm) with screenings of both the Irish and International Finalists at the Accidental Theatre. Shorts within the festival’s ‘Official Selection’ will be available to watch online throughout the duration the festival’s six-day programme.
On Tuesday 29th (8pm) there’s a screening of Elvira: Mistress of the Dark (Accidental Theatre).
Wednesday 30th (8pm) sees the festival’s horror movie quiz (Accidental Theatre) returns for a second year, this time in partnership with Lit to the Tit, there’ll be a range of prizes and goodies up for grabs.
This year’s lineup concludes with a double-bill of The Rocky Horror Picture Show & Shock Treatment on Halloween night (8pm) onboard the festival’s regular partner The Belfast Barge. The night will include a fancy dress competition hosted by local cosplayers Hedgescout and Wishmama.
